Can an Arduino Pro Mini be connected to an FTDI adapter and an external power supply at the same time?

Good afternoon!
There is an Arduino Pro Mini 3.3V (Chinese clone).
And the FTDI USB-To-Serial adapter:
www.ebay.com/itm/FT232RL-3-3V-5-5V-FTDI-USB-to-TTL...
Arduino over SPI controls a device that can consume up to 2A. In this connection, an external adapter is needed.
Is it possible to simultaneously connect an arduino to a computer via an FTDI adapter in order to read data from it via Serial?
Yes, and disconnect-connect for flashing is constantly reluctant.

connect only a common wire, do not connect the USB power cable at all, even through a diode

If the duina will be powered only from external power, then only connect GND, TX, RX, DTR to FT, if you want the duina to receive backup power from the computer, then connect 5V through a Schottky diode. Do not connect the power without a diode - you can burn out the USB port on the computer.
