Can a Macbook run battery bases (batteries)?

In general, I have a Macbook Pro 13 Mid 2012, I bought it last year (used). Used it very rarely. Used it 20-30 times in a year. There were quite a few charge / discharge cycles of the battery (I don’t remember exactly), but it kept the charge well for 3-4 hours in online video viewing mode with Wi-Fi on and at maximum brightness.
And just yesterday I ran into a problem ... the right left side of the touchpad began to bulge, while the right side, on the contrary, deepened. Since yesterday it was not possible to disassemble the device, I decided to google it initially ... I found some tips that said that it was necessary to spin up the laptop and tighten the bolt responsible for the touchpad.
When I finally got home today, I decided to unwind it anyway. Having untwisted, I saw that there was no that very treasured bolt. But... when I unscrewed the battery - the touchpad started working as it should. Everything is perfectly pressed, and the touchpad is aligned. And then I thought that the bolts were probably too tight. But no ... as it turned out, the battery was simply swollen (inflated). Moreover, as I twisted the MacBook after reassembly, I noticed that it does not stand evenly on a flat surface, a swollen battery not only negatively affects the operation of the tappad, but also begins to deform the body of the laptop itself. As a result, I decided to disassemble the device again and unscrew the battery before buying a new one. For it is better to play it safe ... you never know ...
Sorry for the long introduction. But maybe someone will have a similar problem with the touchpad, and my story will be useful to him.
So. actual question. Can a MacBook be used without a battery? That is, having removed the battery, connect the laptop to the network (socket) and work as usual "by wire"? The fact is that once upon a time I heard or read somewhere that this is not possible on a MacBook. Is it true? Or is it outright nonsense? I appeal to the owners of macbooks who used / use a MacBook without a battery.
Also interested in the question, does such work (without a battery) affect anything?
It’s just that at this point in time there is no need to buy a battery if the laptop can be used without it, since it is still used at home in 95% of cases.
Thanks in advance for your replies.

Works absolutely fine. Only a cross instead of the battery level. Constant shutdowns "hot" do not lead to system errors. Even while downloading or copying. I specifically tried to kill the system, it did not work)

Your poppy model will work absolutely fine from the power supply, without batteries. If the unit is normal (that is, there is enough power at maximum loads, otherwise it may turn off during operation). Batteries begin to swell towards the end of their life cycle, as a rule. It is unsafe to use such a battery, it will swell even more if it is charged and discharged, it will break the case and the touchpad and they burn very well (bright, fast and hot). But there are also models of poppies that will not work at all without a battery (the entire 15th model year) and models that slow down (the kernel process) without a battery (I only met this with airs).
But it’s more convenient, of course, to buy a new battery, a good copy can now be bought up to 3000r.

Macbook Air 11, 2012. The battery cable went out, but I didn't know that. The indicator showed that the battery is not charging, everything hangs terribly, nowhere is written what could be the problem. I raised it from the last backup, raised the system from scratch and nothing helps, tk. I cleaned it not so long ago, I didn’t think it was due to overheating, and then I freaked out and took it apart, picking up my jaw, stuck the cable back and everything flew. As if I thought that this could not be because of nutrition, because. Asus quietly ran without battery. Maybe the problem is that 8GB and MacOS often backup to disk when there is no battery?

Well, you can make a lot of money: take the battery out of the laptop, press (or solder) the wires well and wrap it with blue electrical tape. Looks bad, but cheap and cheerful.

I'll add just in case.
MacBook Pro 15 (mid 2015), works without a battery from the mains. The only thing is that it started to slow down a bit.
The battery was also swollen, unstuck urgently. I ordered a new one (China already), did not charge, handed it back. :D
