Can a laptop be loaded?

I'm not good with iron. Can you please explain - is it necessary to be afraid of heavily loading your laptop?

How harmful is it to leave a laptop in a state where the processor and RAM are 80% loaded, for several hours or even a week?
And in this state, is it better to run the fan at maximum or medium speed, so that it makes less noise, but is constantly warm / hot?

How much does this reduce the life of the laptop?

For some models, this is very harmful.
For example, I once had a gaming laptop, the video card was heavily loaded and the coolers worked like crazy, it was noisy like an F-15 fighter. The result - every six months (especially in summer or in Thailand, where it is always warm) I changed the batteries due to swelling - all this threatened with fire and a fire in the apartment.
For cooling, even a special stand did not help. She only delayed the swelling of the batteries

No need to be afraid. A few hours is nothing at all. If it does not overheat, then the service life is reduced slightly. Fan at maximum speed - the colder the iron, the better it is, especially with prolonged load. Regularly clean from dust (with what frequency - depends on the amount of dust in the place of operation)

It depends very much on the specific laptop model and even on a specific instance. Especially from cooling. Not all laptops are designed for long, stressful work.
How much is reduced - also individually. In case of overheating and defective cooling, it can be reduced to several hours.

In a laptop, compared to a desktop, it is a priori more difficult to implement high-quality cooling of components. Therefore, on similar configurations, the same task can heat up a laptop more than a desktop. But within the limits in which the cooling of the laptop provides the recommended operating temperatures, let it work for itself!

Vlad ,
as mentioned above, it all depends on the laptop model, its cooling system, the state of thermal interfaces and operating conditions (for example, keeping a working laptop in bed on a blanket under load is dangerous and fraught)
Despite the fact that in a laptop separately, the CPU (depending on the model) and VC (depending on the model) have different temperature limit thresholds, it is still normal for laptops if the temperatures on the discrete VC do not exceed 80-85 degrees Celsius and on the CPU 85 -90 degrees Celsius, because if you keep the temperatures higher, then there is a risk of burning the power phases / damaging the components around the CPU from heating, or simply when the thermal paste dries out, you can suddenly get problems with the CPU. In some cases, you can limit the frequencies, lower the voltage a little (this can already be fraught, because there is a risk that the CPU will not start and you will have to change the BIOS), limit the power supply for the productive mode.
Among other things, it is necessary to carry out maintenance once a year and a half - clean the cooler and radiator from dust and dirt, change thermal paste ... This is the normal operation of a laptop that has nothing broken.

if the laptop does not overheat - leave all the default settings and quietly operate.
in which case it will turn itself off.
