Googled the book C/C++ and MS Visual C++ 2008 for Beginners. I started with her and it was a good start. I wanted to make a platformer game and I did =)

Laforet R. Object-oriented programming in C++
Everything is very subjective, of course, but in my opinion Stroustrup will be better for a beginner. Easy to read, good examples.
