Blinking cursor when starting Kubuntu?
The system worked fine, after updating the video card drivers from under linux (dual-boot) and the next reboot, the resolution got lost, and 2nd reboot led to a black screen with a blinking cursor.
I tried:
1) remove splash , quiet in grub and write nomodeset - just a black screen after.
2) Do nothing - the download starts and some kind of check passes (many lines are issued, opposite each line - [OK] ), and then a blinking cursor.
3) When you press ctrl + alt + F2 - something like a terminal opens on the same screen and you can write commands.
4) cry ..... a joke

firewood fell off. Write the version, in this case it matters, since under 14.04 there is a jockey-text for installing video adapter drivers, in 14.04 ubuntu-drivers-common
Or just google depending on the version of ubuntu how-to about the above packages.
And accordingly, alt-f2, sudo username, password (the characters will not be visible, type), then either jockey or ubuntu-driver just reinstall to open-source or whatever the video adapter driver utilities will offer.
well, here is a little askubuntu.com/questions/22118/can-i-install-extra-...
Kubuntu - 14.04
Nvidia - 33x./34x. (tried to put)
PS now I'll try the above and unsubscribe ..
