Good afternoon, I have an old Acer aspire 6530g laptop. Literally a month ago, such a problem began, a black screen with a cursor appears before loading the OS, and the download does not go further. You can go into bios. I tried the seven, ubuntu. Work for a day or two and the problem reappears. But with live-sd normally loaded. Victoria said that everything is fine with the hard drive. Before that, there were problems with the north bridge. Is there an option to fix this problem? Or is it already from the old age of the laptop?

Or a disk, or a disk controller, or a cable with problems.
Try replacing the drive.
Let's say the Victoria Test showed only 2 green bumps on the disk, the rest is perfect - the laptop freezes on the XP boot screen. Cloning to another drive fixed the problem.
