backup in windows environment. how?

Hello!
you need to regularly back up files (at a minimum, ideally SQL Server databases, Hyper-v virtual machines) from one server to another. both servers - windows server 2008 r2, outside the domain, are connected via http (in general, a VPN tunnel has been laid, it can also be done using any protocol).

Question: what can be done?
additional requirements: the system must be free or not expensive (up to $ 50), easy to set up (you don’t want to study for a long time) and reliable (set it up and it works, if it stops working, then it says why (either the network does not work, or there are no places enough on disk.

PS The existing backup system on DPM2010 is extremely unstable, it seems that there is a connection and disk space, but constantly (every 2-3 days), the connection between the server and the agent fails and the backup is not performed with the wording "failure".

Thank you.

@omnimod

If you have DPM2010, then it makes sense to contact MS support so that they can help you deal with the problem.
As an alternative, you can look towards Veeam Backup & Replication Essentials, it meets all the requirements, but it will be more expensive than $50.

DPM2010 works stably in my domain, but things are not going well with the working group. it may be that DPM2010 is up on the virtual machine ...
