How to make a full backup of Ubuntu 16.04 on a VPS using Ubuntu itself?

Hello!
I use the services of some imported host provider, VPS, and it is possible to install the system via VNC from various installation images that they have (you can’t upload your own). I have a standard Ubuntu Server 16.04. I use the server as a regular web server - LAMP and several sites on it.
Question: how can you back up the system as a whole using ubunta itself? That is, without any panels like ISP? The ideal solution would be something like a snapshot in VirtualBox only with the ability to move the snapshot from server to server.
It seems to be a fairly standard task. But I have not yet found a simple and reliable solution.
I would appreciate a link to a good guide.
