Licenses for software and other works

Good day!

1. There is a project with an MIT license.
2. Each file has a license at the beginning.
3. I have a copy of the project, open source. The license remains the same.

Tell me how can I correctly specify the author under the MIT license. Also, I need to mention myself somehow. What should I do to mention myself and not violate the terms of the license.
