Atom D2700 or D525?
Good day,
I want to buy a mini-itx motherboard for NAS, I choose between Atom D2700 and D525 processors.
Already have experience with Atom D525, no complaints. But maybe the Atom D2700 is better than that. In addition to the frequency of 2 GHz.
Thanks

A thinner process technology and, accordingly, more than a quarter less heat generation at a higher frequency.
In principle, the difference in absolute values is not so great - 10W versus 13W TDP, 15-17% better performance in synthetic tests. However, you probably won't notice such a difference in performance in your case...
If the options don't differ much in price, of course, you should take the D2700, provided that the chipset on the motherboard doesn't eat more with it.
An SSD for the system is very good in a working computer, I agree, but why NAS didn’t understand it either.
3 fans - great, but only if they are 120mm at 600 rpm, then it's cool and quiet.
By subject: the bugs have already been fixed, so there is no reason to be afraid of the more modern D2700.
I once chose it myself, please note that the D2700 is no longer produced due to a bug with x64 systems. The bug has been fixed, but most motherboards do not support the processor in this mode. So if this is not important for you - take it, I would rather take the D525
Well, I can forget about quiet work, because. there are 3 coolers and 3 screws. I will think…
The fans will be big. I thought that if there is no need for them, it is fashionable to simply not include them. They don't need to rotate.
SSD (30GB), it just is. And for me it’s somehow more convenient to set up the system on one disk, and the data on others. My thoughts lead me to this: “What if the discs fly? After all, then it will be necessary to install the OS again. ” Am I misunderstanding something? :)
Found this information:
The CPU itself supports 64-bit, but be careful of which motherboard you get bundled with it! In the case of ASRock and Jetway, the motherboard does not support 64-bit OSes.
The same was discussed above, in fact, what is the margin, if a 64-bit OS is simply not needed?
If anyone else is following the question ...
I found a passive motherboard on the D525 for a " slightly more expensive " one. 6x SATA II. Two gigabit network cards. The motherboard is from Jetway, which means that it can be expanded to three more network ports. I think it's an option.
