Atheros ar5b95 wifi card not connecting to router

Given a laptop Acer Aspire 5742g, Windows 7 Home Basic
Wi-Fi card Atheros ar5b95 does not connect to the D-Link DI 524 router. Despite the fact that he sees it and asks for a password, but does not connect. Tried to connect to another router - everything works. A smartphone, iPad and another laptop successfully work on the router. I hear that the problem is software. How would you make them friends? Or at least something to track at what stage the failure occurs.

UPD: Windows is legal, fully updated, drivers are the latest from the manufacturer's website, BIOS is the latest.
(For some reason, I have a vague suspicion that wi-fi stopped connecting after installing SP1)

Is DHCP enabled on the router? Poppy filtering not enabled? What is the distance between devices?

Here we solved a similar problem by flashing the BIOS.

Have you tried connecting with regular OS tools or a proprietary utility? Try the Atheros Client Utility.

try to get the WiFi card driver from the website www.atheros.cz
and not from the laptop manufacturer. helped in the case when it did not connect to encrypted networks, but everything worked on open ones.
