Asus WL-520GC + external screw over ethernet

I'm wondering if anyone has had experience with this combination. It is with this model (well, or at least from the same line).

How does it work? How difficult is it to set all this up? What are the pitfalls?

The named router itself is already available and has been working for several years, but there is no external screw to test at hand. I want to buy something like Verbatim 47591 , Western Digital WDH1NC10000 or Western Digital WDBACG0010HCH .

An important question is how is such an Ethernet external screw visible for a router ? For a router, is it just a network connection and that's it? What about on the hard drive? Does it cost any software? Os? "Mini-computer"?

Thanks a lot in advance for your help!

(By the way, this router of mine does not have USB, so only RJ-45.)

To be honest, the router model has a mediocre relation to this (except perhaps the speed of access to the disk)
in your case - 100 megabits (12.5MB / s
) everything in fact
There should be no pitfalls, the only thing worth paying attention to is speed, but if this is a problem for you, replace the router with a gigabit
PS. The HDD did not work specifically with these models.
And the router is with his wife, it works stably on the standard firmware
