Asking for help from linuxoids: redefine repositories for YUM?

Good day to all.
There is a problem, but since I myself am not a Linuxoid at all, I will dig for a long time and it is not known whether in the right direction, so I decided to ask the Khabrovites:
I have a VPS with CentOS installed, it became necessary to tie Python + Django on it, but in all manuals you need to install additional packages , and when I try to run yum install... It says No... packet available. As I understand it, yum looks in some repositories prescribed by the provider and does not allow climbing somewhere external. Therefore, the question is: where and how to see where yum climbs during installation and, accordingly, what to override there and which repos are better to specify?
Thank you all in advance for your help.
PS: Python is installed by the way, but the version is old and yum check-update also says that there are no updates

Install additional repositories, there are simply no djangs in the standard ones.
Step by step.
blog.adlibre.org/technology/how-to-install-django-cms-on-centos-5-4-with-python-2-6.html I
recommend reading the hardware about repositories.
