Wordpress is like emacs. In a good way. It seems like a blog engine (text editor), but it allows you to build sites of any complexity in practice.

Why build an online store based on a blog engine will probably forever remain a mystery to me...
Look at specialized store scripts, there you will find payment systems and a sane order creation sequence and other goodies... And it will be much easier and better in the end than making a store from Wordpress - use the tools for their intended purpose, you probably do not try to wrap screws with pliers at home, or hammer nails with a screwdriver, although this is theoretically possible.
