Steve Blank helped me a lot from books
- Four Steps to Insight
and Lean Startup by Eric Ries
or better, read blogs of good startups - for example kissmetrics
read blogs of people who launched several startups - for example, David Skok
www.forentrepreneurs.com
and watch forums and sites where startups communicate - for example, quora.com - there are a lot of live dudes you can ask. Why a startup environment is good - a culture of a startup in mutual assistance. They will help you - then you will help the next newcomer)
Good luck
