Are old macbooks still usable for dev?
Hello, such a question ... I want to take a macbook for the sake of the backend + see what is still happening on macos, so I decided to take pro 13/15 and I would like to know how it is in general ...
Here the guys say that the same air2020 is on m1 with 8 GB of ram does not pull jetbrains due to the fact that it eats at least 4 GB. and how to be? How to choose the right one? I decided to google, and there are such answers, as if I will write in html all my life and everything will be fine.

I have pro 13 mid 2012 (the last non-retina) - from the pros: you can throw in memory and disk, it’s quite possible to live on small amounts of code, from the minuses - the latest catalina OS and the screen are not very good compared to retina.
The main problem of old poppies is that if the OS is not the penultimate one, then XCode and some other programs from the store cannot be installed.
If the budget allows, I would suggest a 15-year-old retina, as the most relevant up to the type-c only generation, if you basically just look, then you can be older.
