Are evercookies as sustainable as many articles describe them?

The user needs to be identified. Regular cookies are not suitable as they are easily bypassed. I read about evercookie, but all the articles are 1-3 years old, some write that evercookie has problems with ie. Are these cookies still persistent and worth using?
