Android and SMB how?
Good afternoon.
There is a samba-server, access to which is via wi-fi. On any Windows device, such as a laptop, it is displayed as a regular network folder and for programs there is no difference between it and the local folder.
Everything is more interesting in android: there are many plug-ins for popular file explorers, but none gives a similar behavior. I explain - the plugin for Total Commander allows you to enter the server, but when you try to open any file, it prompts you to first download it somewhere in / temp, which is extremely inconvenient. When opening a video file, Anttek Explorer creates an http server, and if the player supports streaming video, it opens in some MX Player or VLC as localhost:[port_number]/video file.avi. The idea works, but not rewind. In Windows, the file is rewound instantly everywhere, so it's hardly a matter of wi-fi speed. Moreover, if you open a picture in a folder with several pictures in any viewer, you will not be able to scroll through them inside this program (as if it was implicitly copied somewhere to /temp, where only 1 picture and the application does not see more). I also tried FileExpert, where the video is opened in the same way through the stream, but for some reason it does not open in MX Player (downloaded, this video opens fine).
any ideas?
PS: Android 4.2.1

ES File Manager + MX Player
Samba under Ubuntu 13.10 x64 if it matters, Android 4.3.1
Movie mkv 1080p, 10.2 GB in streaming mode plays without brakes, with rewind.
If the phone is rooted, then you can smbmount.
If you only want to watch multimedia, then it's much easier to put a UPnP server (like mediathomb) on the server and not suffer.
Implemented a listing of photos from a remote directory as a local one. If you would like to test, please get in touch.
If you want to
