Alternative to actuators (furniture)

Hello everyone, it's me again.
There is a small dream - to make my favorite monitor automatically retract into the table.
There are hundreds of ready -made solutions. But all of them obviously cost too much money. I want to do it my own way.
After a little searching, I realized that there are several common solutions:

  • Actuator based . Tube, screw, reducer, mechanism. All the actuators I have seen are over $300, which I consider very expensive.
  • Based on a suspension system (with a cable along the guide, the entire structure is pulled up). An interesting option, but confuses the reliability of the cable
  • Based on a guide with a toothed track stuffed on it. I trust teeth more than cables
  • Based on a frog-type jack

  • Tell me, was anyone interested in points 2 and 3, are there any “heaps of links to read, see, buy”?

@Ivnika

some very expensive actuators, look for something to turn satellite dishes, in my opinion it is much cheaper. But in terms of reliability and effort, they are still much higher than all kinds of cables and home-made gear racks
