Replacing the processor on a laptop?

Hello!
Can you please tell me if it is possible to replace the processor with a 2860QM/2920QM/2960QM on an Asus G53SW laptop with a 2630QM processor without replacing the motherboard?

Given the graphics card, the gain in games will be minimal, if not noticeable at all. I would start by replacing the system HDD with a 120 Gig SSD and increasing the memory to 16 Gig with disabling the paging file. This will be visible both in the system and in the application. Good luck.

Most likely it is possible, the only thing is that the 2860QM comes in rPGA998B and BGA1224 versions. And the processors from the 29xx series have a thermal package greater than that of your 2630qm by 10W. Of course, the difference is small, but with a heavy load it may somehow affect, so during installation, you should pay attention to the joint between the radiator and the stone.

1. You can change it, and the difference in heat dissipation (in my opinion) is not such a problem. The fact is that this series has rather vigorous cooling, it should cope, the main thing is not to forget to put good thermal paste.
2. I don’t see the point in such an upgrade, because You will not see a significant increase in performance, the number Pi will be faster to calculate, and the archives are a couple of seconds faster to click.
If Core i3 were upgraded, I would still understand, but only for fun if.
