Adobe Photoshop CS5 does not show transparency in documents

Most likely, this is due to the fact that the system-wide background is not completely white, but #f7f7f7.
How would I make it so that both the background is left and Photoshop shows transparency normally?

Edit -> Preferences -> Transparency & Gamut -> Grid Colors
