Academic data mining in St. Petersburg

I am a master's student at the St. Petersburg Polytechnic University and recently I have become very actively interested in data mining and related areas. Stanford courses on machine learning and databases, artificial intelligence course, Intuit course and challenges from www.kaggle.com/.
I would like to write my master's thesis on it and tie it closely to knowledge discovery in big data.
But, as any of us knows, the path that you go through in learning something with a mentor is much more effective than on your own. Also, any of my teachers is either not qualified enough or the scope of his scientific interests is completely far from data mining. And I want to do interesting, useful and high-quality research. Can you advise who to contact or what company / organization in St. Petersburg is engaged in such things in order to ask for them, to write a dissertation?

Half a year ago, I received a bachelor's degree in "Informatics and Computer Science".
