A simple video capture program?

It took a simple program to capture video from the screen. Of the functionality, only the ability to select a region is needed. Everything. Started googling. I found just a ton of garbage and various combines with redundant functionality.
Is there something simple and preferably free?

put FastStone Capture Portable, and just use it for your purposes, and there are built-in chips that do not interfere, but may come in handy
