A sharp increase in traffic in detail from a megaphone at the old rate, on stable pieces of iron

Question next

Since 2008, I have had several dozen pieces of iron (of my own production) transmitting telemetry to my server. once a minute, a fixed and penny amount of information.

A tariff (modem) was chosen, which included a certain volume and rounding parameters. and it has worked all these years. I knew how much they consume, I knew how much to pay.

Over the past month, I noticed that the megaphone began to count, that I began to transmit dramatically more information (4 times) in detail (of them), I see these very kilobytes (extra), but my devices have not become smarter, they do not change for years.

The level of training of the operators of the operator does not give me a chance to understand the situation with their help.

Has anyone come across this lately? How did they decide?

So far, from my assumptions, this is: the megaphone began to count internal traffic within its network - that is, traffic from devices neighboring on the network that can sit on fat tariffs, send broadcast messages, etc.

@OLS

1) viruses? 2) responses of your devices to requests (ICMP, UPnP, CDP, some other network protocols)? 3) responses of your devices to requests with a fake source IP? 4) the transition of Megafon to another granularity of traffic counting?

It seems to me that the conditions for rounding off traffic have changed, let's say it was 10 kb, it has become 100. Specially read the terms of the contract.
