A large stream of letters - do I need an autoresponder?

We have a large flow of letters. The question is - do people need to receive an auto-reply "We received your letter, and will respond soon"? Or is this just annoying?

Make a ticket system and people will see for themselves that their message has not gone “to nowhere”, but has acquired a haven somewhere.
desk.com, HelpDesk, anything else. The automatic answering machine will be clearly noticeable and this immediately makes it clear that you have a blockage and it will take a long time to wait for an answer.

Here the question is rather how long it takes to wait for a response to a letter. If more than a day, then I would prefer an answering machine
