A few questions about the TRIM command?

1) That is, the trim stupidly fills the "empty" areas with zeros?
2) If it fills with zeros, then it still turns out to write information, respectively, do the cells wear out?
3) Is it possible to "trim" the entire device simply using a zero generator? (dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/sda)
