You are the leader. How will you react to the fact that your subordinate is left-handed in the workplace, but in his spare time?
It takes place in the office. There are 4 periods of time when an employee can be left:
- Before the start of the working day
- During the lunch break
- After the end of the working day.
- When the current tasks have already been completed, but the next ones have not yet been set.
On the one hand, there is no problem with delaying deadlines - everything is done on time. But on the other hand, the employee uses the company's equipment for his own personal purposes. Well, the consumption of electricity can be attributed here. So what's your reaction?

In reality, a programmer writes code for 4-5 hours a day maximum, the rest of the time he thinks how best to do something.
Taking into account the fact that a person can work simultaneously on a limited number of projects, it turns out that any side project greatly reduces the productivity of the main job.
If an employee wants to write something one-time "for the soul" - in general, this is not a problem.
If an employee is clearly engaged in development to order for money, this is the way to his early dismissal.
It depends on what position, if this is, for example, an admin, and he never does a work process, but watches movies or plays games even during working hours - but everything works fine, then this is a real admin, and he should raise his salary. Think for yourself, it is more important for you that everything works, or that the appearance of a workflow is created
If this is an office or remote full-time, then there will be a conversation on this topic (I'm a tech lead).
Because additional work = additional workload = less rest = worse quality of the main work. Well, including this means that the employee will think about another job, another project, another product, and not about ours. And I need full dedication from the team, which means full dedication from each employee.
If an employee is paid for the number of hours spent in the office, then of course he will be fired, because it was not according to GOST, it was not taught in the old Soviet school. And if an employee is paid for his work, then they simply cannot be fired (they can, but they still have to remain).
And how do you know? Read the employment contract.
Discuss with him the option of additional tasks, for additional payment. Then both the company and the employee will be in the black.
The use of technology, the consumption of electricity ... What a bottom ... Are the tasks done on time? Is the client satisfied? Cool! ZP ok? If not, why are you surprised? Do you have free time? Why not do something that will bring income to a person, if the payment does not increase from the fact that he takes on more tasks for his main job - of course he will do left-wing projects.
Stupid problem, which, in principle, does not even make sense to discuss
