Yii2 product filters?

How can I implement product filters? To make it look like in online stores - on the left is a sidebar with filters, the rest of the page is products. Should I use GridView|ListView or something else?

You can use GridView|ListView, you can write your own widget, you can just use html in the view file. Your question is apparently from the category of "how to make up", and this is a question that does not relate to yii.

So, continuation =) I suppose to place the view with filters (_search.php) in layout, how to pass $searchModel to layout?
