XML(XHTML) serialization: which is better to choose?

Currently busy designing the architecture of a future web application.
The question arose about the serialization of individual XML structures, as well as entire documents (XHTML / WML).
Two “bicycles” are spinning in my head, how YOU CAN do this serialization on the knee.
I deliberately do not disclose the mechanisms of my bicycle serializers, so as not to breed an unnecessary holivar. (This is not a military secret at all: if no one offers ready-made recipes, then I will post my views on the subject for discussion).
If someone has already gone through a similar rake, please share the secrets and set the right path.
