Work weekends or not?

I work as a front-end developer remotely. I like my job and most of the time it is really fun. But sometimes there is so much work that it’s hard to meet working hours without overworking on weekdays or without working on weekends. I am afraid of burnout and in general I would like to do the work as efficiently as possible. Therefore, I wonder if it is worth leaving some part of the work for the weekend? Or try to still meet the weekdays by working until late in the evening, but still having two days for a good rest?

The best rest is a change of activity.
Therefore, if the work is varied enough for you and you do not feel monotonous in it, then you can work on weekends for pleasure. The main thing is not to forget about the lifestyle (nutrition, physical activity).
However, there is still such a moment in relation to creative professions that the time for work is limited by a certain mental resource , which is restored only with time. Conventionally, this is 40 hours a weekfor adults. It's up to you how these hours will be distributed (8 hours for work, or 6 hours all week, or 12 hours with a day off every other day, or whatever). However, no one has yet been able to jump above their heads (if we take people, and not other life forms). It may seem to some people that they work more, but if you look closely, they drink a lot of tea, coffee, look out the window, etc. - such time can be safely divided in half. And lately it has been fashionable to work no more than 3 hours a day (for programmers), but this is already debatable.

It is imperative to rest on the weekend, otherwise burnout is inevitable.
Work tasks are a continuous stream, whether you draw from it five days a week or all seven, this stream will not end.
And you - yes.

If you have a fixed salary, then no, you cannot recycle. If you are paid every hour by the tracker, then it is at your discretion, it depends on your greed. On the hourly and piecework - do not burn out. Tired - rest.

Never solve managerial (lack of people, the desire to do more reasonable) problems of the company with your hump, you will get nothing but burnout
