WordPress mail on local server?

I decided to put WP on a local Ubuntu server in VirtualBox. Everything is working so far, but during the installation process, WP asks for E-mail. As I understand it, if you specify a real gmail, it is unlikely that the server will be able to send something to it, is it local, or did I not understand something? Maybe you can put some kind of "mail" on the same server, such as get a local E-mail?

WP can send via its own phpMailer, but this is if the virtual machine is connected to the Internet.
