Will such a power supply scheme for a USB device work?

Good time!
I connect a device via USB to Raspberry pi 3, but there is not enough power for the device. For some reason, I can not use a USB hub with an amplifier, but it is possible to connect an external 5V AC-DC.
Can you please tell me if this scheme will work?

Will work. Why can't you remove power from the same PSU that powers the Raspberry Pi?
