Will Microsoft server work with a client on a virtual machine?
In order not to waste time for nothing on installing a virtual machine, an OS, I want to master it, and crash tests, I want to consult whether it will work on a virtual machine.
Equipment for the test: Mikrotik, System unit 1pc (one 500GB hard drive, 16GB RAM, i3-9100F processor), usb modem
Purpose: to test the operation of services (with which I did not work before) on a test wheelbarrow such services as WSUS, WDS, GPO
Actually what I want to do on a virtual machine:
1) install windows 10 on a wheelbarrow and install VMWare workstation PRO on it
2) deploy a test domain controller (not in a combat network) it will be like the first virtual machine, allocate resources for this: 8GB of RAM, 250GB of hard disk, raise DHCP, AD, DNS, WSUS, WDS connection in the virtual will be a bridge, and a physical network the card is connected to Mikrotik and there is also a modem with the Internet
3) create another virtual machine, but without an operating system (I plan to test the installation via WDS), allocate 100GB, 4GB of RAM, also connect via bridge
Now the question is:
1) is it possible to enter the BIOS on the second virtual machine to run pxe so that it can pull the image from the first virtual wheelbarrow (where the image will be deployed via WDS)?
2) With the settings allocated for the test domain controller, are there enough resources to deploy WSUS, WDS, GPO.
3) If there is a backup domain controller (combat), is it a mistake to raise WSUS, WDS services on a backup domain controller, or should it generally be on another separate piece of iron?
If any of the points does not work (in your practice), please give recommendations on how best to test it.
After that, it is planned to do all this for 100 jobs.

1) Yes https://kb.vmware.com/s/article/1322
2) There are enough resources for the test, but for 100 jobs, therefore, I’m not sure anymore
3) Within the test local network, if the functions are not particularly tested I see the difference where what to raise. And ideally (as for me) a separate vm for a separate task, I have a separate vm on hyper-v in the "combat network" for AD, Exchange, 1C, Monitoring, etc. But it depends on the available resources.
By the way, for good, if the PC is physical, then do not install the host OS unnecessarily (windows 10 in your case), it also eats resources. You can put for example Hyper-V Server, wmware don't remember what the solution was called, google it.
Hope it helped a little
if the word "Mikrotik" is written in the post - everything will be! and fuck the requirements for vsus and vds! everything will work - after all, MICROTIK is nearby!
