Will Android Permissions Help Protect Against Malicious Websites?

Sometimes I have to follow unverified links and these may be malicious sites. As far as I know, websites on PC can harm the device, but can websites harm Android? And if so, how? If you do not give any permissions to chrome, the malicious site will not be able to do anything?
