Will a Wordpress update affect my download speed?

Now I have an old version of wordpress, if I update to the latest, how will this affect page loading? Will the speed increase or vice versa will it slow down?

the main thing is that the necessary plugins would support the new version of WP.
And then you have to manually finish it.
Literally the other day I did the same thing, only in addition I also updated php from 5.2 to 5.5 . There were a
lot of problems, I thought I wouldn’t master it.

It depends what version is now, what plugins, what server stack. In general, WordPress will fly faster on a normal server in the absence of crooked plugins and themes. Yes, the WP code itself grows over time, but it also gets optimized.
As for the update in principle - it is necessary to do it. In general, it is best to work on the most recent version. The only exception is the released version. You can wait a week or two before updating, suddenly some kind of bug pops up (often happens). Better yet, have staging or at least a local copy of the site and test it with a new version of WP while it's still in Beta mode (usually at least a month before the release).
