Will a Macbook air "pull" installing Windows 8 and using Visual Studio on it?

Hello.
If you buy a Macbook Air and install Windows 8 on it.
Windows requires Visual Studio. Will 8 GB of RAM be enough for this?
Or is it better to take a Macbook Pro with a Retina display?
