Will a guitar rig work in VirtualBox with an audio interface on Linux?

I want to buy a focusrite audio interface. And play guitar in Guitar Rig. It does not officially support Linux. Will this scheme work: install Win7 in VirtualBox, install all the software for working with sound there and forward the audio card there?
Or under Linux there are other alternatives?

I confirm, focusrite works fine under Linux. For reference.
Another thing is that lags due to sound processing (about 10ms, but they feel great) make playing a musical instrument suck.
Better buy a pedal or combo with this money.

virtualbox forwards the audio card from the host to the guest. there are no problems with this.
I have a FUBAR that played under wine under virtualbox.
