Will a 12V LED bulb be dimmable?
I am planning lighting in the apartment, I thought about the question.
There are 2 types of lamps 220v and 12v. 220v has a built-in transformer to lower the voltage, such a lamp will not be dimmed (unless it specifically recognizes a dimmer). And 12v lamps, they don’t have a transformer, but still there is a certain driver. What is he doing? what's inside the 12v bulbs? Will these bulbs be dimmable?
Among all manufacturers, I found only 1 single 12 volt lamp where dimming is clearly stated, but its cost is x5 times more than usual.
First of all, we are talking about lamps for the GU5.3 base - as probably the only one available for ceiling spot lighting.

The driver provides constant current to the diode.
LEDs are not dimmed by voltage reduction, but by PWM . If you need full brightness - it burns continuously. Need less - starts blinking. Such drivers exist, but cost more than without a dimmer.
Under the GU5.3 base, dimmable ones are really not common.

And there are more dimmable spots

Install an adjustable driver for 220V.
For example ODLC-45-350 . With 350mA output and both voltage and PWM dimming. Datasheet .
Well, and the like. Actually, there are a lot of different ones.
You can browse and see .
Just use not ready-made lamps, but, accordingly, LEDs without a driver / LED strips / cut the driver with your hands.
