Why, when I open a photo in a sketch, does it show the size of the photo 2 times smaller than it should be?

Exactly 2 times. Those. I go into the sketch, select file --> open, and a photo opens that is 2 times smaller. I suspect this is because I have a retina screen on my macbook? Or perhaps something with the settings?

This is an image scaling setting to be able to export a 2x version for high definition screens.
