Why use Cyrillic domains?

Two reasons that come to my mind for using Cyrillic domains:
1. Lots of unused names
2. Getting the attention of those who care about it
Can you name other reasons as well as disadvantages?

Why use different zones?
https://www.reg.ru/domain/new/ for example, why so many zones? The entire Runet would have sat only in the .ru zone and it would have been normal
