Why might the keyboard not work, but only after loading WIndows, if reinstalling the system does not help?

New HP laptop - when installing the drivers, the keyboard fell off along with the touchpad. Everything would be fine, only restoring to its original state does not help, there is no keyboard at all in the device manager. I thought the cable went away - but it allows me to enter the BIOS and the buttons work there. What could be the matter, what software to try for diagnostics?

It was with a friend on the laptop. The default keyboard driver was probably broken, so the rollbacks did not help. Reinstalled clean and all is well.
