Why Joomla 2.5 and Virtuemart don't return 404 response?

For more than a week I can not solve the problem with the formation of 404 errors.
On links like www.domain.com/wronglink, the answer is 200, but if you go to www.domain.com/novosti/wronglink, the answer is 404. As I understand it, virtuemart's plugin is to blame.
I will be glad to any advice.
