Why isn't Windows 7 Update working?
When I try to get updates, I get a message that the Windows Update service is not running. This service is not in the list of services on the computer, but when you try to install the Update Agent (WindowsUpdateAgent30-x64), you receive a message that the service is already installed and a new installation is not required. The net start wuauserv command gives a message that the service name specified is incorrect.
Addition to the question:
You need to reinstall the Windows Update Agent. However, when I try to reinstall it (WindowsUpdateAgent30-x64.exe /wuforce), I get a message that the Windows Update Agent is already installed and no installation is required. A vicious circle, it does not reinstall, and does not work.

The problem was solved, the following was done:
1. Checked for the presence of files and copied the missing ones (wuweb.dll, wuaueng1.dll, wuaueng.dll).
2. Re-registered the libraries and started the service:
regsvr32 wuweb.dll
regsvr32 wups2.dll
regsvr32 wups.dll
regsvr32 wucltui.dll
regsvr32 wuaueng1.dll
regsvr32 wuaueng.dll
regsvr32 wuapi.dll
regsvr32 MSXML3.dll
net start wuauserv
Thank you all .
Here is the detailed recipe.
UPD.
1) is there a file that performs this service?
2) if it is not there, copy it to the place, the service can be registered in the registry from the hand, call it a pot and run it like any other service.
