Why isn't my case fan power splitter working properly?
Hello dear experts. The essence of the problem:
I purchased a compact motherboard , which has only one connector for connecting a processor cooler and one connector for connecting a system fan (both 4-pin). The case allows you to stick 4 case coolers of a regular size, so without skimping on cooling, I bought 4 good case coolers and put them inside. Only bad luck: there is only one connector for powering case builders on the purchased motherboard . The turntables were also equipped with splitters, and initially the whole system worked on them. But later it became clear that the power from one 4-pin connector is not enough for 4 coolers for the case.
In order to solve the problem of nutrition, I purchased a specialPort Hub for PWM Fans for case coolers, which is a board that connects power from the PSU, connects the necessary coolers and connects a PWM wire from the motherboard to control the speed (it connects to a standard connector for system fans, but only the PWM signal is taken ). It would seem that what could go wrong?
But in reality it turned out that the regulation (PWM) of the power supply from the motherboard does NOT work when the cable for PWM is connected to the 4-pin connector for powering / power management of case fans. BUT it works when I connect the cable to the 4-pin connector to power the CPU cooler. One interesting note:when the hub is connected to the port for the system fan, the speed of the fans is not regulated, but the rotation speed of the marker cooler is read correctly .
Now I had to connect all four fans and the CPU cooler to the Por(n)t Hub for PWM Fans, and control this happiness through the port for connecting the CPU fan. The question arises: WHY DOES THIS WORK / WHY DOES IT NOT WORK? What is the difference between a system fan connector and a CPU cooler connector?
