Why is the workstation pinged from Linux and not pinged from Windows?
Faced a problem that is beyond my competence, so I ask for help.
I have a workstation with Windows 7 pro installed. It has a built-in firewall that includes rules for ICMPv4 echo requests. In this case, the problem described in the title arises: the computer does not respond to pings from other windows machines, although packets reach it (I checked the traffic with the MS netwok monitor utility). Packets sent from linux machines are perceived adequately, and a response comes to them.

The problem was solved by enabling the netsh firewall set icmpsetting 8 rule from the console. To be honest, it's a little strange, because the same rule was enabled in the GUI and should have worked.
Are you sure it's not a firewall issue of pinging windows machines?
Maybe the station under investigation still responds to pings, but the pinging machine ignores them.
And I would not recommend relying 100% on MS network monitor - it somehow selectively demonstrates the traffic generated by that machine. on which it is installed.
A stand-alone sniffer is still preferable for its independence.
