Screen resolution

Why is the monitor not accepting resolution when installing Elementary OS?

The point is the following. There is a Philips monitor quite ancient. The working resolution is 1366 x 768. When installing Elementary from a USB flash drive, this thing starts, it comes to the axis logo, it hangs for a while, and then the sign "Cannot display this video mode" pops up. It seems that the problem is clear, you need to change the resolution and that's it. I tried to enter commands to select the desired resolution vga=ask everything appeared, I chose b nothing. That is, everything is the same. We reach the logo, it blinks, thinks for a short time and then again the sign. I understand it can not determine the monitor or something.
UPD / After some manipulations, I still managed to install it in a resolution of 1024x768. But the problem hasn't gone away. After installation, it allows you to choose what to start, the launch starts and the whole screen goes out and the sign is on a new one. What has not been tried, what commands in the terminal have not been written through alt + control + f1. Nothing helps. Xrandr writes "can`t open display"...
