Why is the module not being created in Joomla?

Version 3.0. After editing the rights on the hosting, I found that when creating the module, an error is generated: 500 The default layout was not found. I checked the permissions, it seems to be right ... 777 and 755 in modules, administrator / modules /, and others that can affect modules. Everything else works well. Where to look, what could be the problem? In the rights or another hundred then? If you upgrade to 3.4, will it help? And will this update affect the content of the site installed plugins and links? www.alfabetseo.net . _

Check if there is a default.php file in the module's tmpl folder. If it's there, the problem is one level up - the admin theme layouts are missing. parts (if you have a non-standard one).
Updates to installed modules, themes, plugins and components, as a rule, do not affect. But I do not guarantee that all of them will work correctly on the new version, because. it all depends on how they are written (whether the new version of the engine will be compatible with the component code or not). So check the changelog on the Joomla site before upgrading.

Problem solved. On the hosting automatically updated the rights. Now I can create new modules. Why did you change permissions? I read smart people on the Internet.
