Why is the font not displaying correctly in Google Chrome?

On some sites, obscure characters are displayed instead of Russian letters. Changing the page encoding does not help. Internet Explorer renders the same pages as they should. What could be the problem?
OS: Windows 7, 64bit
Browser: Google Chrome 31.0.1650.63 m

There was a solution - it was necessary to remove the helvetica fonts from the system -_- I don’t know how this is connected, but it helped me
