Why is the BX.fireEvent() form not being submitted?

Hello. I am making a custom form handler for the form.result.new component. By clicking on the submit button (input[type="button"]) I perform the necessary actions and submit the form BX.fireEvent(orm_obj[0], 'submit'). That's just the form is not submitted, the page is simply reloaded. What could be the problem?
