Why is MySQL = MariaDB in Kali Linux?
Why in Kali Linux work with databases is carried out using commands such as mysql dump, service mysql start and so on. if after running mysql -u user -p it says that I use MariaDB
Aren't MySQL and MariaDB different DBMS?

They are compatible and on debian-like systems use MariaDB by default, you can read here
